APPLE & PEAR TART

THIS DESSERT FEELS LIKE A BELLY HUG ON COLD WINTER DAYS.

Guinness Black and Blonde

Puff pastry filled with a warmly spiced apple and pear filling, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Ingredients

1 Sheet all butter puff pastry (half sheet pan size)

3 Pears, Anjou or Bartlett, peeled and thinly sliced

3 Apples, Granny Smith, peeled and thinly sliced

3 tbsp Unsalted butter

50 g Sugar

1 Vanilla bean, with seeds scraped out from pod

1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp Salt

Vanilla ice cream

Method

Preheat oven to 200°C.

Line a greased 30cm pie plate with the puff pastry, cut away excess and discard.

In a large sauté pan, melt butter and add apples, pears, cinnamon, vanilla, sugar, and salt and simmer over medium heat for about 20 minutes.

Stir gently and be careful not to break up the fruit.

Evenly spread the fruit mix over the pastry shell and bake for 30 minutes or until pastry is golden brown.

Allow the tart to cool for a few minutes then serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
